What you need to know about sending out Thank-yous!

It seems fitting to us that today, on November 1st, we write a blog about how to give thanks! So often we are asked by our clients about this topic. Who do they thank? When do they thank people? How about thanking vendors? How does this work?  So here it is! Plain and simple.

Our parents always taught us to say please and thank you and when it comes to weddings this still is the case! Saying thank you is a MUST! Yes, you are the star of your day but thanking your guests and those who helped bring your day to life should be a TOP priority after you say I Do.
  • Parents- Are your parents heavily involved in your wedding? Are they paying for part/all/some of your big day? Thank them. Write a beautiful card, show some emotion and maybe give a little gift too. Simple but best gift to give? Picture frame! Parents love pictures! Take our the stock photo, replace it with a handwritten note that this frame will soon hold a photo of us from my wedding day! YOU WIN! Best thank you gift around. You're welcome.
  • Bridal Party- Chances are, if you have a wedding party they have gone out of their way to make your wedding special. Show them you appreciate what they have done! Hand write a card, tell them how much you appreciate them and maybe even give a little gift if you can swing it. FUN FACT- they deserve a thank you card AFTER the wedding is over too. Leads me right into the next point...
  • Guests-  you must thank EVERY guest who comes to your wedding! That means, even if they do not give you a gift you MUST send them a thank you! I can not stress this enough. Thank you cards are a MUST!!! It is best when both of the newly-weds sign the card too. Short and sweet works but trust me- you will deeply offend people if you do not send thank you cards to EVERYONE who attended your wedding.
  • Vendors- Did your vendors help make your dreams come true? Changes are they did. Say thank you! If you do not have time to get this done by your wedding day get those babies in the mail within a month of your wedding day.

When do you thank people???
  • Parents & wedding party- this should happen at rehearsal/welcome dinner
  • Guests- technically you have up until your 1st anniversary to get those thank you cards out! But to be honest, work on them as soon as you can and get it done. It take a bit so best to just get that off of your to-do list.
  • Vendors- if you can not can get your thank you cards, potentially with token of appreciation, to them on the day of your wedding you really should get it to them within a month.

A thank you goes a long way and means so much to people! It is such a simple gesture but one that is all too often forgotten. Do not let yourself be the person who does not property thank the people who made your wedding day special. I know you have put a lot of time and energy into your special day but when you step back and look at it, it takes a village. Thank those people. They worked hard for you. Say thank you.

xoxo

It's nice to be grateful, a way of giving love back to the people who love you.

This blog is a little different. We will blog about real weddings & events, with real budgets and real expectations. We will blog about the fun things we love - wedding trends, barn weddings,  bridal bouquets, wedding gowns and everything else shiny and wedding & event related but we will also be blogging about the real stuff that come up when planning a wedding and event. Weddings can bring out the best and the worst in people and we will be chatting about how to deal with all of these shenanigans. We are by no means behavioral therapists but we have done this a LOT! We have been in and around weddings & special events for a what seems like forever. We have seen the smiles, the tears and everything in between.

Just breathe and enjoy the planning!
