2018 Wedding Trends!

Twenty seventeen was filled with some of the most amazing couples and beautiful weddings, and we can’t wait to kick off another fantastic Detailed Engagements wedding season this year! With a new year comes new trends—here are some of our favorites to watch for in 2018.

  • Intimate Wedding Parties
We know it can be hard to choose between your family and friends when it comes to deciding who belongs in your wedding tribe. Although we still see our fair share of large wedding parties, many brides and grooms are moving towards having a smaller, more intimate group stand up with them while they tie the knot. Some even decide to do away with a wedding party altogether. At the end of the day, your wedding is all about celebrating the two of you!

  • Ultra Violet!
2017 was the year of Greenery! Pantone named this the color of the year and the wedding trends followed suit, not just in color but in style, too. Cascading bouquets with a more natural feel, overflowing greens, and succulents became a popular choice. This year, Pantone’s color of the year is Ultra Violet. From invitations to florals, we can’t wait to see how our couples incorporate this vibrant purple hue into their wedding day!

  • Keepsake Decor
We love to see decor that becomes a lifelong keepsake for the bride and groom. Beautiful decor isn't hard to find, but it becomes even more special when it has personal significance to the couple. We are seeing more and more couples come to us with unique ideas, from a hand-painted ceremony arch, to personalized toasting glasses—anything that is a timeless, physical representation of your special day will mean so much for years to come.

  • Unique Desserts
Traditional wedding cake isn’t going anywhere just yet, but many couples are choosing to serve their guests unique desserts that they love instead. Pie, donuts, ice cream sandwiches, you name it! Incorporate your favorite dessert into your wedding and you’ll be right on trend (not to mention, your guests will be excited for something a little bit different, too).

  • Floral Installations
Floral decor is here to stay! We love the idea of using bold, beautiful flowers in a creative way on your wedding day. A hanging floral installation, living wall, or a unique ceremony backdrop will make your wedding stand out from the rest, and give you some amazing photo potential.

  • Guest Experience
2018 couples are all about giving their guests the best experience possible. Weddings are changing from one day affairs to a weekend long event. Spreading the wedding out over multiple days and offering different activities, like a welcome party that includes everyone in place of a rehearsal dinner, is just one of the ways couples are extending the festivities surrounding their wedding day. Top notch food and amazing entertainment are a must for these couples to give their guests an unforgettable experience!

While trends are great to look to for inspiration, the most important thing to keep in mind is what works for you— whatever that may be! We love to see couples embrace who they are and what they love, and add their unique personalities into their big day. You don’t want to get so caught up in the latest and greatest that you lose yourself in the process. You are getting married to the love of your life, and above all else, your wedding should celebrate the two of you as a couple!

We want to hear from you! What trends or traditions will you be incorporating into your big day?

Happy Planning!

Detailed Engagements Love Story

February is the month of love – a time for Valentine’s Day and remembering love – emphasizing the importance of love in our lives.

So it seems quite fitting to me that today, Valentine's Day- I say thank you to all of our clients for allowing myself and Detailed Engagements  to be part of their love story.

Cheesy? Maybe. But it really condenses down my philosophy of how I feel about my clients here at DE. It really is a love story.

I have spent the last two months, the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018, both looking back and looking forward. Reflecting and planning ahead. To me, they go hand-in-hand. Each and every client myself and my team work with has brought so much into our lives. I take all of that with me going forward. So many of our clients have already sent over their online albums and videos so I had the pleasure of spending the last 2 months reliving 2017 and looking back on all of the greatness we were fortunate to be part of.  Wrapping up the year and another chapter of my own love story.

Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be part of your love story and therefore a part of my own.

Cheers to you my clients, my friends and cheers to a life long connection of our love stories!

You may want to read this..

This blog is a little different. We will blog about real weddings & events, with real budgets and real expectations. We will blog about the fun things we love - wedding trends, barn weddings,  bridal bouquets, wedding gowns and everything else shiny and wedding & event related but we will also be blogging about the real stuff that come up when planning a wedding and event. Weddings can bring out the best and the worst in people and we will be chatting about how to deal with all of these shenanigans. We are by no means behavioral therapists but we have done this a LOT! We have been in and around weddings & special events for a what seems like forever. We have seen the smiles, the tears and everything in between.

Just breathe and enjoy the planning!
